" Acres of Play preschool will foster growth in all developmental areas through child led hands on play. Learners will be encouraged to figure out how things work and create new ways to use items. "

Drop off & Pick Up

Please drop children off between
7:00am & 8:00am
and pick up between
3:30pm & 5:00pm
A late fee of $20 will be charged
at 5:15pm and every 1/2 hour after.

Tuition

Is due as agreed upon at enrollment. Tuition is a guaranteed weekly rate regardless of days attended.

Withdrawl

A two weeks notice and or 2 weeks tuition is required prior to un-enrolling.

Illness

Children with fevers, diarrhea, vomiting, unexplained rashes will be sent home. Children can not return until a full 24 hours after symptoms have ceased with out the use of medication. So if your child has had a fever and you give him Tylenol before bed and he wakes up without a fever he can’t come to school that morning. NO return until he has gone 24 hours without a fever and without a fever reducer.

Medication

Prescriptions must accompany the label of dosage and frequency from the pharmacy. Written permission with times and dosage must accompany over the counter medications. Written permission with dosage and times must be accompanied with the medication.

Extra Clothes

Children will need at least one, if not two extra sets of clothing. We use paint, water, and other items that might get messy. Send children in play clothing that can get messy or stained. Learning is occurring not fashion statements.

Outside

We will go outside daily, rain, snow, sun, sleet, windy just like the mail carriers. EXCEPT when it is dangerous, storms, wind chills or temps that are dangerously low. Children must have appropriate clothing for winter. Warm boots, warm clothing made for outdoor play. NO GLOVES only warm waterproof mittens.

Days Of Operation

Acres of Play will run September to early June. The week between Christmas and New Years Acres of Play will be closed. The week of Spring Break observed by local school districts Acres of Play will also close. Snow days will be determined on a case by case incident. Parents will be notified in a timely manner in the event Acres of Play will close due to weather.

Field Trips

Learners will go on field trips and walking explorations. Parents will be notified prior to any off campus trips where transportation is needed. Walking trips around the facility will occur weekly and permission for these trips will be kept on file in the student records.

Food

Acres of Play will provide fresh and nutritious meals and snacks. Breakfast and Lunch are the two meals provided as well as a healthy morning and afternoon snack.

Discipline

Conscious discipline is used at Acres of Play. In a nutshell children are learning HOW to behave and every opportunity is given for every child to learn appropriate ways to handle conflict, joy, pride, frustration, sadness, excitement, fear, anger, and all other emotions we all experience. Physical punishment is NEVER used, shaming, name calling and ridicule are NEVER allowed. 4 year olds get re-dos. They also are given what words to use in appropriate situations. Love, empathy, compassion, concern are always used. All individuals in any moment of conflict are taught problem solving and appropriate self management tools.

Rest Time

Children will be expected to have a quiet rest time in the afternoon. Please send a rest time mat or rug of some sort for your child daily. Beach towels work great or fleece blankets. They are not required to sleep but just have scheduled quiet time to rejuvenate.

Emergency Situations

Fire drills will be held monthly. In case of a fire children will be exited out of the closest and safest exit and taken to a safe location in the yard.

Tornado/Inclement Weather children will be taken to the basement and will take shelter until the storm has passed.

In the event of an emergency where evacuation of the premisses is needed children will be taken to the neighbors house directly behind Acres of Play.

Accidents/Injury

Parents will be notified in the event of any injury or accident involving their child. Serious incidents and injuries will be reported as required by the State of Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

Parents will be notified via phone, text, email or instant messages in the event of any emergency situation.
